George Pal

Was an American animator which specialized in the category of Sci-fi and action. One of his best pieces is The War of the Worlds which is a very popular film made in 1953 and it was about a big object that crashes into earth and soon after that the world is in danger from these enemies. George was also a big animator of puppets and creating entertainment from this, the video shows an example of his work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9fpzNg28y8

Willis O’Brien
This animator specialized in clay mostly when creating an animation and these were very detailed with rubber creating things such as breathing animals with bladders. O’Brien’s animations were famous for having personalities in his creatures by the facial expressions and the ways that they act. This is a good way of capturing the audience’s attention as it adds excitement. He worked on King Kong as the movements he made were realistic so his capability was seen around the world from his creation to make life through stop motion, there was a sequel called Son of Kong which he created himself.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sND4F3hdBS4

Ray Harryhausen
Ray was a fan of dinosaurs and fantasy creatures and was experimenting stop motion animation from inspirations such as King Kong. Harryhausen met O’Brien and they were working on several projects together sharing their love for realistic animals creating films. One of his first pieces were Puppetoons. He then went on to create the Sinbad series which included computer graphic effects very early on which was a new era to see this animation also known as CGI today which is used by Pixar animation. This was the start to Hollywood editing as Transformers have used this technique to show crashes. Also Harryhausen did voice over work for Elf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9kmjW73-v4

Tim Burton
Burton is an animator of children’s animated horror films, he started by gathering the inspiration from Vincent Price and got an apprentice at Walt Disney for animating but actually drops out for their ideas being ‘boring’. Tim Burton tends to share his variety of films from animated to CGI such as Sweeney Todd is shot with real actors and locations whereas some scenes are CGI but he was the director of this film. Corpse Bride was the start of the genre of these films and it continued to Vincent. He varies his work from animation to real life which shows the inspiration to have animation and real life in the same film.
Tim Burton has inspired me in my animation by putting distinctive voices to the protagonists and creating an emotion to give the audience and the way they feel about them and the journey they want to overcome within the story line and what they encounter such as dangers and climax.

Foley
Foley sound is very helpful with considering specific sound you want and this can be recorded by yourself creating a realistic and true sound to the stop motion animation.
